Delivered in Texas, found both legs in New Jersey, tolerated growing pains in Bangkok, stumbled my way into London, unceremoniously bailed; now resisting awkward transition into adulthood in Thailand whilst inconveniencing the ever-patient parental unit. Recent work is about existing and becoming in the 'Non-Place' that is conceived and constructed through the individual’s struggle to belong to multiple cultural and social states of being. I use video, photography, ceramics, textiles, text, sound, paint and found objects to create installations and visuals that explore contrasting and shared positions from my experiences of living around the world. I reference my personal objects and my own body as a way of anonymously transfixing myself within work that anchors itself on being in a constant state of cultural flux, as well as incorporating Western capitalist, public and popular icons and objects in contrast. I am interested in the seepage between practices in cultural sciences such as anthropology and history and more creative and informal methodologies of research. By placing myself in the Non-Identity of the living outside of accepted boundaries of law and country, I ask if globalisation truly endorses cultural hybridisation, or whether it merely promotes the inflection of inferiorities, subversively encouraging attempts to become homogenous through contradictory divisions of class, race and gender. I ask if the export of stereotyped Western Democracy delivers on its promises to break colonial and linear power systems reliant on particular notions of these subjectivities. I make up 1/4 of the Chelsea Girls feminist art collective. Fine Art related work and projects have included completing a residency and solo show at The Oval House Theatre as a recipient of the Chelsea Student Awards 2010, assisting with Deborah Curtis and Gavin Turk's acclaimed artist-led education project "The House of Fairytales" at Thames Festival 2010 and assisting at Frieze Art Fair 2010. Photographic experience primarily involves getting kicked around at various protests in the UK and trailing the Red Shirts and other pro-democracy movements in Thailand in the aftermath of the 2010 riots in Bangkok, smattered with the occasional local football match and running lights for commercial photographers more knowledgable than I. I am particularly interested in human rights issues, grassroots activism and everyday life in the city and beyond.
